OFF-ROAD
AMA RACING/FMF/GPR HARE & HOUND NATIONAL CHAMPION
Kamo (68) and Norman (60) with
57. (Caselli now holds fourth at
55.)
Kamo said, "It was dusty! I
didn't know where I was at. I live
here so I'm supposed to know
where I'm at, but all the stuff that
we raced, about 80 percent of it,
I've never ridden before, so it was
tough for me!"
Still, he was able to get into
the lead pack by the end of the
first loop on his Johnny Campbell
Racing Honda/Scott Goggles/
Fly Racing CRF450X, though he
was still in for a surprise.
"Kurt passed me on the second loop, about 20 miles in. He
came up behind me pretty quick

was up front.
Braydon Bland

the whole way," he explained. "I
fell back to 10th! At the end of
the first loop I started riding better and taking better lines. The
second loop, I don't know - I just
started clicking. The bike was
working better and I was going
better. I passed three guys before the alternate [pit on loop two]
and then a couple more after. I
was fifth by that time, but I ended
up getting lost. I dropped three
more positions back to eighth so
I had to work my butt off hard for
another 20 miles to get by Skyler, [Irving Powers] on a KTM and
Justin [Morrow]."
Purvines Racing Beta's Morrow was another who had to work
through the dust, finishing fifth
on his Motul/Fasst Co./Fly Racing 498 RR after an especially
spirited battle with Pearson.
"It was kind of hairball at the
beginning," Morrow said. "It was
really dusty and you just got in a
conga line single-track, follow-
