The sun warmed the air as the riders heated th e competition.· In the 125cc Junior competition, Tom "T h e Butcher" Holt took his Butch Campbell tuned Suzuki to the front ofthe class and left the cornpetition behind in both motos. Randy Anderson pulled in second in moto one, but a flat tire put h is ride to an end in round two. Tony Seibert (Seibert Roofing) and Leland Ayer (S&T Kaw) battled for third in the first race, but Ayer m ad e a mistake in the ba ck secti on that cost him. This moved Seibert to third and George Delfino (H onda Center ) to fourth . Round two, o f co urse, saw Holt grab th e lead. From th ere it wa s a battle for second between Seibert, Ayer and IOOcc rid er Alan Pi erce. Moto two saw Peoples again tak e the lead, only to give it up on the last lap as Mike Bitner 's pressure became too much. Bitner chased Peoples the entire race until he got his chance with an inside drive. Evans pushed ' his Yamaha hard for third and Willingham DNFthe th ird lap. In th e 250cc cla ss, it looked like J erry Evans (H onda Center) should have moved up a cl ass. Hedidn 'teven see th e Juniors excep t during lapping.
