Sam won last week in the World Supersports,
so I could not have him putting one over me,"
Lowes said. "Now I have to stay consistent as it
is a long season."
Byrne was determined to set the record
straight in race two and he ended up with the
45th British Superbike win of his career.
"Winning was a bit of a way of saying sorry
to the team for the first race," Byrne said. "It
was strange that the front should tuck in the
way it did and before I knew it I was down looking at the daisies. But we turned it around in the
second race and we pulled it off with the win."
Brookes finished second in race two with
Lowes a close third. Lowes now leads Byrne
by a single point in the championship chase,
117-116.
New Yorker PJ Jacobsen finished eighth in
the first race but failed to finish race two.
Alex Lowes took
over the lead
in the British
Superbike
Championship
on Monday at
Oulton Park.
EVERTS WINS AGAIN!
T
en-time World Champion
Stefan Everts showed that
he hasn't lost his magic as he
won the inaugural E-MX demo
race at Circuit Zolder in Belgium
last week. Everts beat Ken De
Dycker and Yentel Martens in
winning the race for the KTM
Freeride E electric bikes.
"I had tested the KTM Freeride E before, but I didn't know
what to expect from a race," the
40-year-old Everts said. "And
because I had quit GP racing
seven years ago, I certainly
didn't expect to win here against
all these young guys. For sure
this bike is different than a motocross bike, but you can have a
great time on these motorcycles
anyway. And that's exactly what
we did."
Stefan Everts showed that there's
still plenty of fight in the old
dog as he won the E-MX race in
Belgium last week.
