The Moto Guzzi
California 1400
Custom is the second
of the two new models
introduced by the
Italian company.
The Custom is the
cruiser version of the
previously introduced
Touring model.
form rather than its function –
and it works much better as a
design statement on the Custom
than on the Touring because now
you can at least see the tire with
no hard luggage to shroud it.
But, as on the tourer, I truthfully had no complaints about its
wide tread making the steering
heavy - as you might expect such
a big rear tire to do.
No doubt about it: Moto Guzzi
is back in business, with two
outstanding new California 1400
models that are a match for anything presently available in the
two distinctly different sectors of
the market they're positioned in.
In the case of the Custom version, anyone in the market for
a Fatboy or one of the various
Victory Vegas variants owes it to
themselves to seek out a Moto
Guzzi dealer and take the new
Cali cruiser for a ride. This is an
extremely fine, well designed,
and thoroughly developed new
motorcycle that is dynamically
outstanding, yet displays heaps
of personality in bringing Italy's
most historic motorcycle marque
back to contention for the customer dollar.
