LOWES PERFECT
IN BSB
A
lex Lowes claimed his first double win of the
British Superbike Championship at Cadwell
Park on Monday, August 26, but the Samsung
Honda rider came under intense pressure on the
final lap of the second race with Tyco Suzuki's Josh
Brookes snatching the lead before crashing out.
Brookes was pushing to close in on Lowes and
on the final lap he made a lunge down the inside to
hit the front of the pack again. Lowes was looking
to get back ahead, but that pass never had to be
made as Brookes made an error and crashed out
of the race unhurt.
Lowes claimed the double win as Samsung Honda celebrated at its home round while an emotional
Tommy Bridewell scored his best-ever finish in the
championship with a second place for Halsall Racing Kawasaki team. Milwaukee Yamaha's James
Ellison completed the podium in race two ahead of
Shayne Byrne.
In the first race, Lowes held the lead from the
start, despite coming under pressure from title rival
Byrne and Ellison, who would later lose the spot to
Brookes on the 12th lap. Two laps later and Ellison
would crash out of the race.
New Yorker PJ Jacobsen ended up a lonely fifth
in race one, but was a non-finisher in race two.
Byrne holds a commanding lead in the series
over Lowes, 330-293. Brookes is third with 284
points.
"The feeling is fantastic, winning like that in front
of all those spectators," Lowes said. "It is like a fairy
tale weekend for me and it has just been awesome.

It's not that long that I was sitting on those banks
