Q
uick… who won the last World
Superbike round held at Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca? Hint:
He's Australian. Troy Corser? Wrong.
Anthony Gobert? Wrong. Troy Bayliss?
Wrong again. But you can be excused
for not remembering that it was Chris
Vermuelen who did the double the last
time the series visited the Monterey Peninsula. After all, it was eight years ago.

FOR THE FIRST TIME
SINCE 2004, WORLD
SUPERBIKES ARE BACK
N MONTEREY

Since that time MotoGP has taken over
all things motorcycling at the legendary
little racetrack in the hills east of the California coastline. But not anymore. This
year will mark the first of three years of
a new contract between SCRAMP and
Dorna to host the series that ruled the
roost at Laguna starting in 1995 and ending with the Vermeulen double in 2004.
In between… there was 10 solid years of
World Superbike action at Laguna.
Let's take a look back at those 10
years…
Colin Edwards (2) leads Troy
Bayliss (1), Neil Hodgson
(100), Noriyuki Haga (41), Eric
Bostrom (32) and the rest of
the World Superbike pack
over the hill at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2002.
