VOL. 50 ISSUE 45 NOVEMBER 12, 2013 is at the backside of his career. Having experienced the end of a career myself… at the end it's a really weird feeling because you just don't know. You're like… you think maybe I need to make a change? Maybe I'm doing this, maybe I'm doing that? But, in reality, for me, I couldn't change what was happening. I was getting old. I was getting sore. I was a little more cautious and at the end you just kind of grab for straws a little bit. That's just what you do - try and stay afloat. We know in Vale's case he's entirely capable of doing it. It's just sometimes your brain doesn't allow you to do it. "It's a really weird thing at the end. Obviously, he can ride very easily around here in third, fourth place or whatever he wants. But he's a winner. That's what he does and he wants to win. So he's in a peculiar spot, just like Chad Reed right now. Chad Reed's in the same peculiar position. He's trying to figure out why he's not winning. He's making changes. He's trying to compete with kids that are 20. He's got kids of his own and he's married and all the things that distract you from being an athlete. I've been there. It's tough. It's a crazy situation." A lot of people don't think Rossi can't beat the likes of 20-year-old Marc Marquez. Does McGrath think he can? "I sure would like to see it," McGrath said. "I mean I'm pulling for him. I think he can win. It's always tough when you have someone on the team like Jorge [Lorenzo] for instance who's so awesome. They probably like a different bike obviously… but you're kind of the older guy. You're not winning. Jorge's winning. And it's like, how much development are they going to put into your bike. P41 Sometimes they just go, 'Hey, ride it.' "He can compete. We saw it this year, he won and won good. It was a legit win. Nobody's seen that in a long time. We'll see. I know that he believes he can win."
