VOL. 50 ISSUE 48 DECEMBER 3, 2013 remember was won by Ryan Hughes on an ECC Honda) that played out in front of about 3000 curious fans. Since then, many other superstars in off-road and even motocross have given EnduroCross a try – racers such as John Dowd, Ty Davis, Destry Abbott, Cody Webb, Kurt Caselli, Bobby Bonds and former World Enduro Champion Mika Ahola. They have given EnduroCross a shot and many others have said they also want to give it a go. Those who have ridden EnduroCross usually come back for more, but not all. It's not a sport for everyone. It's a tough sport, but not so tough that it hurts its stars very often. Peronnard is quick to point out that since that first Las Vegas EnduroCross, not a single rider has been seriously injured. It's hard to define "seriously" exactly, especially if the injury happens to you, but I get what he's saying. EnduroCross is still growing. It has expanded from what was a seven-round series this year, visiting five states along the way, to an eight-round series in 2014. Next year, two new states have been added to the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship schedule – Georgia and Oklahoma (this won't be OK's first EnduroCross, though). EnduroCross has even been a part of the hugely popular X Games and will again next year, though trimmed down to just one event. This year, EnduroCross traveled the world with the X Games but that proved to be a costly venture. Locking down large arenas and stadiums, building tracks, shipping bikes and paying riders adds up quickly. Next year, EnduroCross will be featured at just the Los Angeles X Games like it was in 2012. So, if you haven't been to an EnduroCross race yet, get going. Doesn't matter if you're a motocross fan, Supercross fan, NASCAR fan, or tennis fan, you'll be entertained big time. Well, unless you're not interested in close racing, crashes, spills, drama and being super close to the action. If that's the case, then I highly recommend you stay away.
