MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 5 FEBRUARY 4, 2014 P61
He and TLD/Honda's Malcolm
Stewart met a couple of times
throughout the night, a couple
of times in their heat race and
a couple of times in the main.
Stewart edged out Anderson
in a back-and-forth duel in their
heat, then they found themselves
again dicing in the main, this time
getting a little too close. While
battling for position through a
rhythm section, the two collided
in the following turn, which took
them both out of top contention.
At the end of the rhythm sec-
tion, Anderson jumped a triple,
leading into a turn. In midair,
he went from the outside of the
lane to the inside (which he had
been doing most of the night),
pretty much landing right in front
of Stewart, who had little time
to slow down, and ran into An-
derson's side. Stewart didn't
like Anderson's move (as well as
another one that happened mo-
ments earlier), nor did the AMA
that tends to frown on any rider
jumping from one side of the lane
to the other in rhythm sections.
The AMA talked to both riders
afterward but no actions were
taken, concluding it was a "rac-
ing incident."
Later in the race, the two
would meet again with Anderson
making a clean pass on Stewart
for fifth.
Anderson and Seely are tied
for the series points and will share
the red plate next week. Wilson is
12 points back in third. CN
