ROSSI AND THE KID
C
urrent very friendly rivals Val-
entino Rossi and Marc Mar-
quez were taken on a trip down
memory lane on race eve, when
they were reminded of their first
meeting at the Catalunya circuit
back in 2008.
Rossi was fighting to win his
sixth premier-class title; Marquez
was just a kid racing 125s with
a KTM and huge dreams in his
heart. This was a sponsor-friend-
ly meeting, where Marquez gave
Rossi a Scalextric (his personal
sponsor) rally car, a replica of
that in which Rossi had recently
competed.
They recalled the occasion
with the same affection they
demonstrate today.
"The biggest change has come
with Marc because I'm about the
same," said Rossi. "What I've
learned from that picture is that
I am somewhat older and Marc
was just a kid. I remember that
photo, also that I didn't think that
he would go so fast in MotoGP."
Marquez replied: "I remember
it perfectly. I went to the Yamaha
hospitality and when he got in-
side the truck I was a little scared
to be there. At that time I could
not imagine that six years later I
could be sitting next to him an-
swering questions."

BYRNE DOMINATES SNETTERTON BSB
S
hane Byrne continued his
almost perfect start to the
2014 MCE British Superbike
Championship at Snetterton with
a double victory at the Norfolk
circuit that further extended his
lead in the championship.
The Rapid Solicitors Kawa-
saki Ninja ZX-10R rider and for-
mer three-time British Superbike
Champion grabbed the lead im-
mediately in the first 16-lap race
and although a safety car pe-
riod closed the pack together,
Shane Byrne
did the double
at Snetterton in
British Super-
bike Series
action.
