lat track racing has been
around for a long time.
And for those die-hard fans
who love it, flat track racing has
always been cool; it's only just
recently that it's become hot.
People are starting to catch on
to one of America's oldest forms
of motorcycle racing. That's in
part to a lot of hype surrounding
the sport of late, largely from
outside sources—top MotoGP
stars like Valentino Rossi and
Marc Marquez; and more recent-
ly, Supercrosser Chad Reed.
To add to that A-List athlete
boost, the sport finally got the
opportunity to take center stage
in front of a mainstream audi-
ence—the X Games—perfect
platform to spread the word
about flat track racing, because
the ESPN made for TV sporting
competition puts an emphasis
on the extreme. Pitting what one
could argue as the best flat track
racers in the world on twins
with no front brakes on a 3/8 of
a mile track is pretty extreme,
