RUSSELL WINS WYOMING NATIONAL ENDURO
K
ailub Russell used raw
speed to claim his first ever
National Enduro win at last
month's round of the Kenda
AMA National Enduro Series in
Missouri, but it was consistency
that got the FMF/KTM rider his
second straight win at the Inyan
Kara National Enduro in Upton,
Wyoming, June 14.
Russell posted the fastest
time in two tests but had the
second fastest times in the
remaining three tests. Runner-
up Russell Bobbitt also claimed
the fastest time in two tests but
finished the day with a third and
two fourths in the other tests. In
the end, Russell topped Bobbitt
by two minutes and 19 seconds
for the win.
After starting the series with
three straight runner-up finishes,
Russell's two-straight wins
extended his lead in the champi-
onship series to 28 points over
Bobbitt.
"Two in a row feels pretty
good after three straight runner-
up finishes," said Russell. "I just
need to keep building on this
momentum, because I know
the rounds coming up are pretty
tight, and that's kind of my weak-
ness."
Heavy rains the week be-
fore the race left the Wyoming
course wet, muddy and difficult,
as 430 riders took to the course
to start the event.
Russell kicked things off with
a win in test one, posting a time
that was one-minute and 49 sec-
onds better than Colorado's Ian
Blythe (KTM).
Bobbitt picked up the pace
in test two, edging Russell by
27 seconds. However, Russell
came back with a strong ride in
the third test, posting another
win. Bobbitt won the final test,
